ENERGY STORAGE
Store energy from your solar and buy electricity at off-peak prices
About battery storage
Adding battery storage to a solar PV system enables you to store your own solar-generated electricity for use later on. Batteries can also be used to buy and store cheap electricity to power your home or business later on during expensive periods. This is called load-shifting and makes owning a stand-alone battery (without solar) a viable option.
We have been installing batteries since 2017 when we became one of Tesla’s first Certified Powerwall Installers in the UK. It was Tesla’s innovation which gave us the confidence to start installing batteries and we have since installed hundreds of Tesla Powerwall and GivEnergy batteries locally.
Tesla Powerwall 3
Tesla’s newly-released Powerwall 3 battery is very impressive and we have installed several since its release. It now has a built-in inverter, a huge 13.5kWh storage capacity, a 5kW grid charge rate and delivers 11kW continuous power. The Powerwall 3 comes with a 10 year warranty and can be installed in multiples of 1, 2, 3 or 4, floor or wall mounted.
The Powerwall 3 continues to provide full-house backup during powercuts through its integrated gateway. The excellent app has Stormwatch Protection to alert you to approaching storms and automatically charges the battery to 100% in readiness for any power outages.
Thermally-managed, the Tesla Powerwall 3 remains our choice of battery because of its performance, reliability, UK support and whole house back-up function. Tesla’s excellent technical support provides regular software updates with new features to enhance the Powerwall experience.

GivEnergy
We offer GivEnergy batteries in 5.2kWh and 9.5kWh sizes. They are most commonly installed with a hybrid inverter, removing the need to purchase another separate inverter. The battery can also be installed with an AC-coupled inverter if you are looking to add a GivEnergy battery to an existing system.
The GivEnergy battery is a great storage option if you do not need a whole house back-up function during powercuts. Use it to capture excess solar generation or even to buy and store cheap electricity at off-peak prices for use during expensive periods.

Battery maintenance
Batteries do not really need maintenance as there are no moving parts, but we always recommend 5-yearly safety inspections for any electrical equipment. Most importantly, a safety inspection checks the tightness of electrical connections which can loosen over time. We also carry out performance tests, but checking for loose electrical connections is important as these are the main cause of fires.
