Heat pumps don’t need much maintenance but should be serviced annually, to ensure best performance and minimise running costs. Many systems contain antifreeze and this needs to be checked for concentration and level of protection. Filters need to be cleaned of debris and sludge that builds up, to restore the circulation flow rate so that the heat can get to the radiators and under floor manifolds properly.

Top Tips

  • Every month, check the system pressure remains between 1-2 bar and top up if necessary
  • Every three months, check at the back of the heat pump and clear away any leaves, rubbish or other debris
  • Run the house at a constant temperature 24/7, if you want it cooler at night just set the temperature back by 2 degrees from 21:00 – 04:00
